We have already presented some of the equipment from Apogee in a video report from the show&tell event organized by ESS Audio. I have an irresistible impression that, as of recently, Apogee has been trying to pin on itself the badge of a leader in plug-and-play Home Studio solutions.
Another proposed product this time is free. First Take is a recording application that is recommended for recording podcasts or quick recording of musical ideas.

The whole action is that we can plug up to four USB microphones into the computer. We then click the big record button and thus start recording audio from our devices. Importantly, the program tolerates virtually all USB HUBs. First Take by design eliminates technical complexities, the kind that we may encounter as amateurs in any DAW-type program. It allows us to easily set up a mix and listen live to what we record.
The program records at 48kHz resolution in 24-bit WAV files. We can easily generate up to four isolated tracks or a finished stereo audio mix. So we have full freedom whether we want to process further or enough.

Such software seems to me to be an interesting idea for people who need to embrace small production in an easy and fast way, and don't necessarily feel like learning big recording software. The downside of the whole plot is that First Take is only compatible with microphones from Apogee(HypeMiC, MiC Plus, & ClipMiC digital 2) and only available for the macOS platform.
