The German lighting manufacturer, more widely known for its iconic A7 luminaire, likes to surprise us with a new luminaire every now and then. P15 is a new profile from JB-Lighting which, in terms of power-to-weight ratio, even puts the competition to shame. It is a 1000w unit on an LED source that at the same time weighs just 24kg.
And here's where the secret is buried. Because it turns out that the engineers at JB-Lightning have managed to encapsulate powerful power in a chassis that we can almost classify as a compact.
Features and Optics
Functionally, nothing is missing here. On board we have two, rotating gobo dials (6 gobos per dial + open). Full CMY + CTO color mixing (or CTB in Warm White). There is also a color dial with 8 filters, as well as soft-edge and flood frost filters. The unit also has 2 prisms, one 3x circular and 5x linear, and of course, as befits a profile, a system of 4 beam-framing knives.

Optically, it also looks very good. Large zoom range from 5.7 to as much as 60 degrees and electronic focus. The light source is, as I mentioned, a 1000w white LED.
It comes in three versions where successively the output is expected to be 34,000 lumens for the High Power (HP) version, 22,000 lumens for the "High CRI" (HC) version and 19,000 lumens for the "Warm White" (WW) version.
Where did the weight come from?
The dimensions are 68cm high, 42cm wide and 26cm deep. And now let's go back to the weight for a moment, as this low score may be dictated by the fact that most of the competition's devices are made to IP65 waterproof rating - something you won't find here.

On the other hand, this does not disqualify the device in terms of its functionality. IP class is desirable in the rental market - but it is not needed everywhere. And for such customers who work mainly under the roof this luminaire is directed.
Summary
JB-Lighting has created a device that, at least on paper, looks very good. Its idea is "lightweight," which is simply to say that it is lightweight while retaining the features available in much heavier fixtures. It is certainly an interesting choice for theaters, television, or events. Places where technicians change plots every day by the sweat of their brow, and the producer/director wants to maintain high output.
Here I have posted only the most important features of the new device. For more information, I invite you to check out the manufacturer's website LINK

But I don't think the A7 will beat it 😅
I think there is nothing to compare with the A7 because the P15 is a completely different device 😉
