HARMAN Professional Solutions, a global leader in audio, video, lighting and control technologies, unveils its acoustic simulation software, JBL Venue Synthesis. This free computer application allows users to design and simulate sound coverage and prepare complete JBL sound systems for assembly or installation in any environment, at any scale, in both 2D and 3D.
Venue Synthesis introduces the ability to create 3D predictions, simulate sound coverage for complete systems and verify equipment for safe and secure hookup. Users can create or import 3D models of objects, interact with realistic 3D models of JBL Professional speakers and accessories, and predict coverage on any plane for an entire system of JBL products.

The new application, which replaces JBL's Line Array Calculator, has been designed from the ground up to take advantage of an improved acoustic and mechanical engine and offers ultra-realistic 2D and 3D graphics, including accurate renderings of physical rigging elements.
With Venue Synthesis, it's never been easier to go from design to implementation, from making planning decisions that save time and cost, to making precise predictions, to ensuring safe installation - all in 3D. Venue Synthesis is ideal for sound rental companies, venue owners, acoustic consultants and live sound system engineers who plan and design acoustic systems of any scale.

"Venue Synthesis really rounds out the toolset in our audio portfolio. The 3D predictive program has been our most requested product for years; adding this functionality increases the value and performance of our professional PA systems." - said George Georgallis, director of product management, Performance Audio at HARMAN Professional Solutions.
"Whether you are designing sound systems for small venues or large stadiums, Venue Synthesis makes it easy to plan and simulate sound coverage. We have carefully modeled all elements of the signal chain, from input signal to amplifier output voltage, to model accurate sound pressure levels that relate to reality. We've also made complex object drawing and complex sound system configuration extremely easy and fun to use. We believe this is a breakthrough in the live sound industry, and we can't wait to see how this powerful, free tool helps our customers create memorable experiences," added Santiago Ortiz, chief acoustics engineer at HARMAN Professional Solutions.
Venue Synthesis offers three intuitive modes of operation:
Venue mode: quick and easy modeling tools
Venue Mode makes it easy to quickly generate 2D or 3D object models using standardized geometric formats or build objects from scratch. Import 2D schematics using popular file formats to quickly model rooms, and create audience areas, such as balconies, with the Special Object Wizard.

Acoustics Mode: Design to the finest detail
Acoustics Mode allows you to create and enhance JBL's professional speaker systems, including suspended and ground-mounted line array systems, split subwoofers and point systems. Configure the amount and parameters of your equipment, including system size, position, angles, DSP and amplifier settings.
Users can visualize quickly rendered initial "Quick SPL" coverage or fully map SPL in the venue for ultra-precise coverage visualization with 1/12 octave frequency resolution - much more accurate than the industry standard of 1/3. 3D Full System Mapping accurately maps acoustic coverage on any audience plane and can optimize off-axis frequency response, complement it with spot speakers and correct acoustic shadows such as church pillars and areas under the balcony.

The System Groups function allows you to organize and combine speakers and speaker clusters according to acoustic characteristics, and 2D System View allows you to visualize speaker coverage and angles. Delay Optimizer optimizes speaker delays for the entire facility. The export function for files relating to system components is fully integrated into the JBL Performance Manager app and the newly updated JBL ArrayLink mobile app. It uses a QR code system to provide rigging information to technicians.
Mechanical mode: Ensure safety and reliability
Mechanics Mode allows users to check and refine mechanical settings - including suspended clusters - to confirm system feasibility, safety and reliability, using 2D and 3D configuration views. The Array Statistics tool confirms regulatory compliance, and a real-time alert notification system alerts users to safety and reliability issues throughout the system.
