HOG 5 is coming

ETC unveils new generation of control consoles...

ETC has woken up from its winter slumber and is introducing a new line of Hog control systems. Among the new additions are models such as the Tour Hog, Stage Hog, Flex Hog and Gig Hog - each tailored to the different needs of performers.

I make no secret of the fact that consoles with HOG software I rather considered a closed topic. One in which nothing will happen, and here a slight surprise.

Models presented:

Gig Hog: A programmable wing with USB-C connectivity, Ethernet and USB ports, capable of powering laptops up to 100W. Featuring backlit keys, motorized faders and encoders, it works perfectly with the HPU or Hog PC processor.

Flex Hog: A minimalist console in the form of a hog, with no auxiliary screens or keyboard drawer, retaining full functionality at a smaller size. Perfect for smaller productions or as a backstage station.

Tour Hog: A compact console equipped with a 24-inch movable screen, two additional 12.5-inch auxiliary screens and backlit keys and sliders. Ideal for professionals looking for a mobile solution without compromise.

Stage Hog: Model without built-in monitor, two auxiliary 12.5-inch screens. Custom displays and accessories can be connected. Modular design provides flexibility in workstation configuration.

*All solutions have motorized sliders.

Summary

Along with this hardware breath of fresh air, ETC is releasing Hog software version 5.0. Interestingly, this new software version is compatible with previous Hog 4 models, which doesn't happen very often in the world of technology. Usually, new software versions also require new hardware, but this time ETC has opted for continuity and user convenience.

I have a feeling that developers and designers have done their homework on listening to the industry. The new consoles are expected to go on sale this summer. Maybe the "piggy bank" will experience a revival like ChamSys after its acquisition by Chauvet? Be sure to leave a comment on what you think of the announced news.
