On March 12, 2025 held a broadcast where we learned about the most important changes in the new version of the visualizer Capture 2025. We invite you to summarize information from the event.
It has happened! Capture 2025 has been officially unveiled to the world. Before we look at the changes, some statistics. It turns out that Capture is currently the most popular software for lighting and multimedia visualization! It occupies almost half of the market which is really quite impressive.
New features in Capture 2025
Auto-save of a lost project - from now on, the program has the ability to automatically backup the project at set intervals. This way, when the program "crashes" or even loses power, you will not lose the entire project. A cool feature that saves a lot of nerves.
Corrections - an interesting concept of "editing" the device library. It works by changing the curve of a parameter. We can adjust the curve of the rotation speed of the Gobo dial or the zoom function. As we know, not in every device these parameters are linear. In the visualization, zoom at 50% will be perfectly in the middle, but in reality it will be 60%.
Support for the Martin P3 protocol - at least in my opinion, the most interesting new feature. Capture is the first visualizer with support for the Martin P3 protocol. This is a feature that allows us to program Martin pixel devices without using actual devices. A big step forward for Martin protocol support.
What has been changed or removed?
- Import of 3D models in Cinema4D format - due to problems with importing .c4d models, the manufacturer has decided to remove this functionality. It is recommended to export models to .gltf format .
- Opening files from versions older than Capture 2019 - 5 years of support for Capture 2019 have passed... Capture 2025 will no longer open older files. It is recommended to open them in Capture 2024 and save to change the file version.
- Higher macOS requirements - Capture 2025 can only be installed on macOS 13.5 Ventura. Users of older macOS versions will have to upgrade.
When?
Grace Period is when Capture 2025 has already been announced but is not yet available. Licenses purchased after March 12, 2025 will get a free upgrade to 2025. If you want to upgrade an older license, you have to pay sequentially depending on the version:

- Quartet 129€
- Symphony 149€
The update will be available from April 23, 2025.
Summary
Capture 2025 has introduced some interesting changes and new features that are certainly worth your attention. I use Capture myself and I don't complain, it's pleasant to draw, spits out nice plots and is easy to use which makes it worthwhile.
