Portman Factory Sessions.

That is, record your team surrounded by Portman brand equipment.

The Gdynia-based company Portman Lights is turning its factory in Gdynia into a music scene. That's how the manufacturer's press release begins, opening up quite an interesting project.

But what is it all about? The Gdynia-based company invites any bands or artists to shoot their video footage at its Gdynia headquarters. A music stage has been built especially for the occasion.

Intent

The key idea of the project is to record a live performance for the selected artists, and to conclude all the material with a short conversation with the musicians about lighting - but not from the perspective of the technician, but the artist.

The whole thing is illuminated with Portman-branded equipment, without the use of other devices, which is meant to show how widely used the manufacturer's products are.

According to Michal Malinowski, Brand Manager for the Portman brand:

We didn't want to limit ourselves to showing our fixtures only in promotional videos or spotting them somewhere on the stages of the world. We wanted to show what happens when those who create the equipment work directly with those who use it on stage. It's an attempt to start a dialogue between light and sound, between technology makers and music makers.

Summary

One must admit that the idea is interesting. Marketing-wise, you know - Portman in her natural habitat. In their own words: "a project that combines locality with global reach, technology with emotion and... factory with culture."

I'm not fond of cute epithets from manufacturers in press releases, but I liked this sentence terribly and it beautifully encapsulates the idea of the whole thing.
