Riedel Communications, a leader in audio and video solutions for professional sports and entertainment events, has been named a winner of the 75th Television Academy's Emmy Awards in Engineering, Science and Technology.
Riedel's innovative Bolero ADR (Advanced DECT Receiver) wireless intercom system has been recognized by an esteemed organization for its contribution and impact on television production. Since its launch in 2017, Bolero has been deployed in hundreds of productions, often enabling the development of new workflows and use cases.

A few words
Riedel Group founder, owner and CEO Thomas Riedel, as well as Jake Dodson, executive director of product management, Wolfgang Fritz, senior product manager, and Jiou-Pahn Lee, program manager, were among the 25 winners in 10 categories of awards presented by the Television Academy this year.
We've been in the sports, broadcasting and entertainment business for a long time and saw the need to build a better wireless intercom: the Bolero," said Thomas Riedel. "Bolero has become a global standard in its field in an impressively short time, exceeding even our own expectations. It is our most successful product to date. We owe this achievement to the talented experts on our team who seamlessly combine business and technological expertise. This award is an incredible recognition of their hard work in research, design and innovation that led to the development of this breakthrough technology. The Emmy award solidifies Riedel's position as a forward-thinking leader in professional audio, video, data and intercom technology and underscores our commitment to providing innovative solutions that enable our customers to create better events and tell better stories
The Bolero system supports up to 250 beltpacks and 100 antennas. With a battery life of more than 17 hours and optional autonomous operation that does not require a base station, Bolero is convenient to use.

With features such as Advanced DECT Receiver (ADR) for operation in difficult RF propagation conditions, NFC for easy beltpack registration, flexible modes of operation - as a wireless intercom panel or walkie/talkie, and built-in Bluetooth functionality, Bolero has redefined the category of wireless communication systems.
The Emmy Technology and Engineering Awards are given for the development and standardization of engineering technologies that represent such a significant improvement over existing methods or are so innovative in nature that they have a major impact on television. A committee of highly qualified engineers working in the television industry considers technical achievements in the industry and determines which are deserving of the award.

Riedel will receive the 2023 Technology and Engineering Emmy Award at a ceremony in Los Angeles on October 18. The award marks the fourth Emmy award received by Riedel in its more than 30-year history. Previously, the company received Emmy awards in technology and engineering for its work with Red Bull Stratos and Red Bull Air Race. The Bolero system itself received the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in 2019.
