Cameo AZOR S2

Ostensibly a spot but nevertheless a bit of a hybrid.

There is no denying that in the world of stage technology we have a bunch of different brands producing equipment. It used to be easier - this one makes moving heads, this one makes cool pairs, and this one takes care of the controls. However, for several years now, you can see the struggle of different brands for recognition. Sometimes with better, sometimes with worse results, but you certainly can't deny the Cameo brand efficient marketing.

And so, at the urging of hundreds of Facebook ads, I decided to check what's up with the manufacturer that I've always associated mainly with led pairs. I enter the tab moving heads and to my eyes appears a set of devices that really look. Admittedly, a bit like spaceships from a popular sci-fi movie, but it's a matter of getting used to the eye.

I was looking for something that would be suitable for universal use. That's how I came across the AZOR S2. It is a spot-type device equipped with a 300W LED light source and a maximum power consumption of 770W. That is, we can confidently compare it to the popular Quantum. The manufacturer states that the output luminous flux is 13,000 lumens. Despite the use of a smaller LED engine and by as much as 175W compared to its competitor, we have 300 lumens more. Of course, in writing, but I hope to test it in person. In addition, we control the zoom in the range of 5° to 50° so it comes out that quite a hybrid.

The device features two gobo dials. A classic static one with 11 gobos and a rotating interchangeable one with 8 gobos. Under control we also get two rotating prisms that can be superimposed, iris and frost. It is worth mentioning that we have two color control modes - CMY and color disc. Attention is still focused on the issue of movement capabilities because the PAN range is as much as 630°, while TILT is 270° - quite a lot.

In control the classics - DMX, RDM, Art.-Net, sACN, i.e. everything that is modern, fashionable and everyone uses it. In addition, of course, W-DMX using the optional Cameo iDMX adapter - that is, every country is a custom, the fashion for own wireless protocols continues at its best. Choose from 3 DMX mods - 21/24/28 channels.

The manufacturer itself calls the device compact, I personally would not use such a statement for a device weighing almost 20kg and measuring (SxWxG) 371x601x238mm. Although if you compare it to the Cameo OTOS SP6, about which on their website they write "a light weight of 34kg", it is indeed quite a compact from this AZOR.

Considering the effects available in the device, its appearance and power, it's safe to say that Cameo delivers us a full-fledged device from the PRO shelf. The new devices certainly disenchant the patch of "vapor manufacturer" and we are very eager to see how the subject works in the real world - personally, from this place I invite Adam Hall along with AZOR to walk on stage!

For more, of course, we refer you to the distributor's website.
