A sentimental journey through the pixel...

Prolights Halu Pix DUO - will someone bring it to me?

About a hundred years ago, while on tour with Poparzonymi Kawą Trzy on stage, I got something that at first glance looked like Jarag panels. However, they were Halu Pix panels from Prolights which charmed me.

The charm was enough for me to write them in the rider for the next few years and get them for a concert a whole 0 times. Well, after all - "sunstripes I have ladies in the company!". All the skylights shine on this rally so don't make up some pix for me here.

Another "200 years" has passed, and Prolights is releasing a sequel to something that was poorly received in our market. Will he write it into a rider learned from his experience with the previous version? No. I'm old now, and with age comes wisdom....

*Consider that this toy must be doing the job since I wrote anything at all.

What does it come with?

That concludes this sentimental journey of the usefulness of these devices and I will get down to specifics. Halu Pix Duo, as the name may give away a bit, is a hybrid. A combination of the first version, that is, sharply glowing emitters in 2700K incandescent color and 21×21 RGBWW pixels. The former make a beautiful effect of a sharp sheaf of light like panels from Rammstain concerts, while the latter can do as an LED screen with the ability to drop in video or as a simple solid color for the background.

As for me, this is the very essence of a modern device. The combination of two rather distant worlds in one box. A bit like you would take an ACL and combine it with an LED panel.

In 2024, at the David Gilmour concert, they used sharp panels from Acme with the model Superdotline (yes that ACME) to create a screen that drew an image in space. As a matter of fact, they stole the idea from my head...(But I won't sue them, let them have it :D) It is colossally impressive. When I saw the Halu Pix Duo I thought that this is exactly the effect they wanted to achieve, but alas. Only 2700K LEDs shine sharply. The colored ones do the background.

I, for one, know that these panels will again pass without much publicity so that I can't accidentally enjoy them. I also know that the reason is probably the price and too little practicality of using them at a wedding or corporate event. Well, because it will neither display logos in good resolution nor illuminate the wall well about the smears on the ceiling not to mention. I know something about it, I break events industrially.

But my dear friends. Isn't it beautiful?

Time for dry facts. A 50×50 panel pulling 500W and IP65 immunity. Each pixel controlled separately which generates in maximum fashion 1855 channels - a lot of...

A little technique and a summary.

Since I've already shed a tear over this device, I'll briefly throw the most important features of the device into a beautiful and coherent list.

  • Light source: 7×7 4° 2700K LED + 21×21 120° RGB+WW LED
  • Enclosure: 500x500x133mm / 16.3kg with IP65 rating
  • Optics: (beam layer) 3.6°; (pixel layer) 116°
  • Control based on the latest protocols in modes from 15 to 1855 channels. That is, you can use the built-in macros as well as make your own spins and flashes.
  • Total power consumption of 500W.

It is worth mentioning in conclusion that the devices are equipped with a very fast and simple mounting system for creating matrices. Like a real led screen. As if that were not enough, the whole thing can be freely bent from -15 to +15 degrees.

And so, in the end, I will lend myself so that I can enter this device in the rider in spite of all the "sunstripers"!
