TiMax has just unveiled its spatial audio control application, panLab. It is a unique 3D interface that differentiates itself from the competition by allowing offline programming without connection to the QLab workspace.
In the standalone application, we can place sources and speakers in 3D space and use amplitude-based spatial panning. The whole thing is done in 3 axes - that is, x and y and height.
panLab also allows us to draw sequence paths in 3D space, which in the final result can be moved, changed and looped. When we recreate the sequences with QLab, the application (panLab) will show us a full automation of the object's movement in space.
The new software offers a tap tempo function and the ability to specify the number of bars over which each sequence is to be played. Multiple selection is also available throughout the user interface, increasing the speed and accuracy of object updates for both positioning and object level control.
